So Long Pastor 'Bosun...You will live forever |
August 16, 2013 |
Hmmmmm, I can't bring myself to accept the reality that our once-bubbling - with- life Pastor Olatubosun Ajibola Ogunyinka is no more with us. Tears are not just enough; no amount of wailings or weeping will turn the tide at this point in time. Our beloved Pastor has gone to join the Saints; the Haven he has always craved for. I hear you you telling us often and often, 'my portmanteau is packed, I fear no death.'
How do I even begin to describe the impact you made in my life and in the lives of so many others in the Church when our paths crossed. Very monumental. In you, we have lost a Mentor, a Father, a Confidant, a Friend and above all, a worthy Shepherd ; you shielded us all even with the last blood in your body.
You were more than a Pastor to my Family. You were very instrumental to our progress and growth as a family. You set us on the path of righteousness and made me especially, see the essence of family values.
Adieu Pastor Bosun Ogunyinka.

Years back you came to Our Parish Royal Diadem. I saw you like every other Pastor who has passed through the church - but you excelled them all.
You brought total change to the church, you showed us love, our family became your family, our friends became your friends, our pain and sorrow became issues you cannot over look. Not just me alone, others have the same experience.
You opened your door to everyone, you ate and dined with us all, you revealed the Bible to us, you taught us the reward of tithing....with you we became one BIG family.
You knew us all by our names, you showed us love. Not in my widest dream would I have taught of being a worker much less an usher, yet you made the 1st alter call for workers and I obliged.
I remember so well when my late sister was ill, you prayed for her and asked The Lord to take life out of you so that she can live... This touched me so much. Not many men of God can Pray this type of prayer.
Pastor Bosun you will always remain my favorite Pastor.
Goodnight Daddy...

Daddy Pastor |
August 15, 2013 |
I had an interesting conversation about 6 weeks ago with my first son, Seyi. I asked him if he still remembered "Daddy Pastor" and "Mummy Pastor", to which he replied "yes". I then asked him what he rembered about them, to which he replied "Daddy Pastor is fat like my daddy and Mummy Pastor is slim like my mummy. Seyi clearly remembered Pastor Bosun. For him Daddy Pastor meant very warm welcomes in the church office and at home; always friendly banter; a ready rescue from the discipline of his parents; regular offerings of soft drinks/juice and the occasional candy/biscuit.
In his characteristic manner Daddy Pastor connected with my (then 3 year old) son in a very personal way and to such a degree that he could still remember him after 2 years of being away. For me Daddy Pastor was my confidant; counsellor; mentor and friend. His memory will forever remain blessed, for he was and still remains a "moulder of men". The truth is that Daddy lives on in the heart of so many people and has only changed his address. In the end, I know that we shall see each other again dressed in white, in that day we will say "Alleluia; Salvation, and glory, and honour, and power, unto the Lord our God ... "
Adieu Daddy.

You came with zeal, a burning passion that there is work to be
done. Never before has the household of royal diadem been privileged
to have had such an outstanding General. You taught us, you trained
us, you mentored us, you guided us, you disciplined us, you sacrificed
for us. You gave your ALL to your sheep. You were exceptional. Under
your tutelage the gems of the Royal house shone forth ready for the
master’s use. But there is one thing I clearly and distinctly
remember you always , always said---- 'My portmanteau is packed and
ready' if Christ should come for you today you were good to go, no
looking back like Lots wife, in spite and despite all your achievements
on this side of the world. You were ready; you were prepared to spend
eternity with our Lord and Saviour. We were not ready we were not
prepared; nothing ever, ever prepares one for the passing away of a
dearly beloved.
Goodnight Pastor Bosun, your work here is done.

Tribute to My Nobel Pastor |

If it was a matter of wishes, the entire congregation of Royal Diadem Parish RCCG in Isolo, Lagos, Nigeria would have wished that you come back to minister unto them. Since Nov 2011 when you took ill, there has been no prayer session without a prayer point for your survival and return. The expectation of your return reached a fervent point and climax when your friend Provincial Pastor Tunde Metufo announced in the church on 28th July 2013 that very soon you will join us for the usual praise worship and church activities. The thunderous applause and deafening chorus of AMEN that greeted the statement was roof blowing and earth shaking. The attitude of high expectation and hope of the church has always been like this until Sunday 11th August 2013 when against the run of play information of your untimely demise was broken. The whole church was crestfallen and broke down in tears. Mourning your premature departure was without exceptions, the young, the old, the men, the women and the children. Reason was that you were more than a Pastor in the church. You gave everything you had for the growth of the temple of God. You knew and internalized with every family in the church up to the offspring and in fact took special interest in their physical and spiritual welfare. You were indeed a worthy shepherd who knows his sheep in and out.
By your ways and attitude many were converted into the ministry. Winning souls into the vineyard of God was your primary concern. You not only emphasized this point, you also demonstrated it. As a testimony, God used you to make me a Christian. You were very passionate about the kingdom of God and made no pretence about your readiness for the final journey. Your kindness suffers no limitation. Even on your sick bed, you paid the hospital bill of an outgoing patient. For these and many more, your death was a dastard blow. You will be greatly missed. We miss you now and mourn, but our Joy is that we know you are resting in the bosom of the Lord till we meet to part no more. 1 Thess 5 : 10 “Christ died for us so that whether we are died or alive when he returns we can live with him forever”
Rest in Peace my Nobel Pastor Bosun Ogunyinka..

Pastor Bosun as he is fondly called by Church members is first a friend, counsellor, teacher, an Elder and then my Pastor. Its a wonder how much someone could have effected positively, so many a congregant as Pastor Bosun had. He had the right words fit for each person who meets him. Pastor lived the WORD he preached! He lived by example and made a holy living worth emulating.
The title of this write up is one of the famous lines of Pastor. Is your Portmanteau packed? This is a clarion call to all members indeed all Christians to be prepared for the day you will breathe your last. I can say with no equivocation that Pastor was ready for the last call. He also admonishes us not to hold too much to life and to the things of life which is fleeting. A proper focus on your creator and to the Power in His Word and a Perfect Relationship with Him ensures a life after translation.
"Na Grace oooo"......., "you don't own the pant on you" and many more anecdotes were the hallmarks of his Preachings.
When Pastor took ill and had to be flown abroad the Church prayed earnestly believing God for a perfect healing and miracle. However, the shock first, then disbelief at the sad breaking of the news of his passage. The tears and the questions! However, as Christians, again a belief that a Soldier for Christ have been called Home to RESTfrom this mortal world.
Without a doubt he is resting in the bosom of his Creator. Till we meet again to part no more Pastor Bosun.
